Praying Mantis

Mantis! I paused the lawn mowing last Saturday to make sure this little gal got to safety–and of course, to take her picture.
Yes, I mow the lawn with my camera in my pocket. What of it?
My wife says I need to mow the lawn more often. Her argument is that it’s disruptive to all the little micro ecosystems in the lawn to let them grow for so long and then mow them down. I think that maybe she just wants the lawn mowed more often, so I’m holding off for now while her motives are suspect.

Yes, I would like the lawn mowed more often. But I did feel bad watching all those little bugs flee for their lives from the giant killing machine. And then there were the bugs that miraculously survived the mower wandering in the now short grass looking at the devastation of their homes and crying little bug tears.

“…and crying little bug tears.”
This is why I married her, folks.

So wait, you would prefer that they live in a state of continual misery, waiting for the daily machine that would prevent them from ever gaining a measure of happiness? At least with your husband’s way, they have a brief period of glory and contentment.
