This moth photo comes courtesy of Steve Allen, who has done this sort of thing before.

Unfortunately for me, moths are some of the most varied and hard-to-identify species out there. I’m gonna open this up to you guys for a stab; this moth was photographed in Seattle, WA in July. Any takers?

Thanks (again), Steve!

I’ll vote for the Washington Brown-with-white-spots moth ;-)

Buffer Status: 14 images slotted, 2 written. I met my “slot 1, write 2″ goal yesterday. Well, actually I exceeded it with something like “slot 5, write 2″ but the point is I now have a solid 14-day lead with images. If I can keep up slot 1/write 2 for the next 7 days, I will be two full weeks ahead. Yay!

Has this moth recently emerged from the cocoon? It’s wings look a bit weird at the edges.

I’m not sure. It looks to me like the white flares might be the hindwings sticking out from underneath.
