European Paper Wasp
Andrew Lin can make even Polistes dominulus look good.
No seriously. Here’s the wallpaper to prove it.
Andrew says that oregano grows like a weed in Sacramento. I must admit, it’s a very pretty weed.

I can confirm that oregano is some kind of bizarre, mutant superplant. We planted a little bit in our side garden one year, planning to dry it ourselves so we could brag about having our own oregano to put on pizza…and it took over the herb garden.
It grew into a giant patch of the stuff, and it’s a perennial, so it KEPT growing back - it pretty much grew as fast as we could pick huge bunches of it to dry. We ended up having to root out that whole section of the herb garden to get the oregano to stop taking over.
Oh, and also, apparently oregano is closely enough related to catnip that any passing stray cat - and we have more feral cats than you might think in Long Island - became a big fan of our herb garden. A REALLY big fan.
